New Moon in Gemini: A Creative Journalling Session for a New Cycle

New moon energy | Creative journalling | Oracle cards | Smashbooking | Lunar intentions

The New Moon in Gemini has arrived — and with it, an invitation to slow down, pick up your pen (or your paintbrush), and ask yourself some powerful questions.

What are you saying to yourself right now? What are you promising? And what energy do you want to carry into this new cycle?

I've just shared a brand new creative journalling smashbook session on YouTube, and in this post I'm going to walk you through exactly what we explored — so whether you'd rather watch, read, or do both, you're covered.

What Is Cosmic Smashbooking?

A Cosmic Smashbooking is an intuitive, freeform journalling practice that blends writing, painting, images, and creative play — all on one page. I love to include Oracle Card wisdom - there are no rules. There is no perfect. It's a space to receive, to feel, and to let what needs to come through... come through.

I work with the energy of the lunar cycle to give this session a focus, and right now, the New Moon in Gemini is calling us into some very rich territory.

What We Explored in This Session

🌑 The Energy of the New Moon in Gemini

Gemini is an air sign — the sign of communication, curiosity, and connection. And a new moon, in any sign, is always about beginnings: new promises, new intentions, a fresh cycle.

So the central question this new moon asks is: what are you saying to yourself?

Not what are you posting, or what are you telling others — but the quiet inner dialogue running beneath the surface. The stories. The beliefs. The self-talk that shapes everything.

This is powerful territory for journalling, and the Gemini energy makes it playful and expansive rather than heavy.

✨ The Cards: Think It Through & Nothing Is Impossible

I drew three cards for this session as part of my own morning practice, and they shaped the whole page.

The first, Think It Through from Yasmin Boland's Moon Manifesting Deck, carried a clear message: this is a time for a positive mindset. Not toxic positivity, but a genuine, grounded choice to focus our energy on what is possible rather than what feels hard.

The second, Nothing Is Impossible from Rebecca Campbell's Ancient Stones Deck, landed like a breath of fresh air. It's a reminder that when we set intentions, we can hold them lightly — using the phrase this, or something better — trusting that what we ask for opens us to the unexpected.

The third card Flower of Life from Francine Hart’s Sacred Geometry Oracle, brought in the energy of deep roots and ancient wisdom. The Akashic records. The reminder that we get to remember in this time — to call back what we already know.

🎨 Painting the Page: Working with Flow

As I worked on the page, I reached for paint — blue and pink — and let the colours lead. I wasn't trying to make it beautiful. I was letting it be what it needed to be.

The pink pooling into the blue, spreading gently, reminded me of something I've been working with lately: river energy. Flow. Even though Gemini is an air sign, this New Moon is asking us to soften, to trust, to let the current carry us rather than fighting the direction of things.

🌿 Decorating the Edges: What Are Your Boundaries?

Something that came through unexpectedly in this session was the theme of boundaries. I've been setting up a new space in my life — a beautiful awning — and I found myself wanting to decorate its edges, to define its shape in a way that felt right for who I am now, not who I was before.

That became a journalling thread: what do your edges look like? Not in a defensive, keep-everyone-out sense — but in the sense of: my energy is precious, and I get to choose how I spend it.

Flicking back through old journal pages, I noticed something telling: many of them had no borders at all. That felt like information.

💫 Intention as Energy, Not Just Action

One of the things I come back to again and again in my practice is the distinction between doing and being. When we think about New Moon intentions, it's easy to slip into a list of goals — things we want to achieve, acquire, or make happen.

But what if your intention for this moon was less about what you'll do and more about how you'll be?

The words that wanted to come onto my page this session were: calm, gentle, trust, peace, joy, flow. And then, most powerfully: be. Be these energies.

That is my intention for the New Moon in Gemini. And I invite you to find yours.

5 Key Takeaways from This Session

💜 Your inner dialogue is your most important conversation. The New Moon in Gemini asks you to pay attention to the words you speak to yourself — and choose them with care.

💜 Set intentions as energies, not just outcomes. Instead of fixing on a specific result, ask how you want to feel and be — then let action flow from that place.

💜 Your energy is precious. Revisiting your boundaries isn't about keeping people out; it's a declaration that you get to decide where your energy goes.

💜 Messy creativity is sacred. Releasing the need for a perfect page is a practice in releasing perfectionism in life. Let it be messy. Let it be true.

💜 Nothing is impossible, and this or something better. These two phrases together create powerful space for new moon intentions — holding them with conviction, while staying open to the miraculous.

3 Reflective Journalling Prompts

Take these into your own journal after watching, if you feel called:

💜 What am I saying to myself?

Sit with the Gemini theme of inner communication. What words or phrases do you return to most often — and are they the promises you actually want to be making to yourself this new moon?

💜 What do my edges look like right now?

Reflect on your current boundaries — with your time, your energy, your relationships. Do they need redesigning? What would it look and feel like to honour your energy as something precious?

💜 What energy do I want to BE this lunar cycle?

Rather than listing what you want to have or do, write about the qualities you want to embody — calm, joy, flow, trust — and explore one small way you could begin living them today.
